As your comprehensive oral health care provider, we know that dental emergencies are bound to happen. To make sure these situations are handled promptly, we offer same-day emergency dental care. Generally, when a dental emergency occurs, the faster you see us, the better chance you have of saving your tooth.
What is a dental emergency?
Simply put, a dental emergency is anything that threatens the overall health of your tooth. This can include dental trauma or infection. If your tooth becomes knocked out or cracked, see us right away. If one of your appliances, such as a crown, bridge, or implant gets hurt in some way, this is also a dental emergency. It is always a good idea to see us if you are in extreme pain or if you are experiencing a lot of bleeding around a tooth. If you are experiencing a dental problem but are unsure whether or not it is an emergency, give us a call for further clarification.
On the other hand, some dental procedures can wait. For instance, if you chip a tooth but the tooths’ structure is not threatened, you are most likely okay to wait to schedule an appointment during regular business hours.
What should I do if I knock a tooth out?
If your tooth comes out or becomes loose, see us immediately. If the tooth falls out gently rinse it off with cool water. If you can, gently place the tooth back in its socket. Do not bite down or force the tooth back in. If this is too painful, put the tooth in a glass of milk until you can come in to see Dr. Kennedy.
If you are facing a dental emergency, please do not wait. The sooner that you contact us, the easier your treatment will be and the more likely we will be able to save your tooth.
