Having a beautiful smile that you’ve always wanted may be easier than you think. Many people get the movie-star smile of their dreams using Kennedy Dental’s simple, at-home whitening process.
What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is a process in which we use a special bleaching agent to change the color of your teeth. The bleaching agent works from the inside out, attacking discolored molecules and giving you a brighter, whiter smile. Tooth discoloration is normal- over time your teeth are prone to getting yellowish tint. This is due to what we eat and drink as well as aging. Certain habits, such as tobacco use, as well as certain medications, can lead to tooth discoloration. Tooth whitening reverses this discoloration and can make your teeth look whiter than ever before.
How does the whitening process work?
Our whitening process involves custom-made whitening trays. If you are interested in whitening, we will first take impressions (a mold) of your teeth to create the trays, which can be picked up in just a few days. We will also give you a bleaching agent, which you will put into the trays and place directly onto your teeth. You can wear the trays for an hour or so a day until your teeth are a shade that you are happy with.
Is teeth-whitening safe?
Yes, teeth whitening is incredibly safe, especially when supervised by a dental professional. The bleaching process will not hurt your teeth and enamel. If anything, you may experience some slight sensitivity after whitening. The doctor may recommend a prescription-strength Fluoride gel to desensitize your teeth.
How often will I need to re-whiten?
After your treatment, you may want to retouch your smile here and there to maintain it’s new bright, white look. Touch-ups will not take long and can be done at home as you see fit with your whitening trays and bleaching agent.
