First Dental Visit

Initial Appointment 

Your initial appointment will consist of approximately an hour and a half of time spent getting to know you and to help you decide what your dental needs might be. This time spent at the beginning is very important to both doctors and helps them deliver the highest quality of care. Included in this visit will be a comprehensive head and neck exam, an oral cancer screening, a periodontal (gum disease) screening, intra and extraoral photographs,a detailed decay exam and any necessary x-rays that the doctor might need. At times, we also take impressions for diagnostic models. The doctors evaluate the information that they gather and then sit down with you at the consultation appointment to address your needs and desires. They go over the treatment in detail and give you options. Our business coordinator goes over the financial aspect and answers any questions you may have regarding your insurance, while providing you with a workable financial arrangement.

Occasionally, treatment can be done the same day as the consultation. Sometimes a patient with a complex medical history or extensive treatment plan may require a different evaluation and more than one additional appointment.

Please assist us by providing the following information before the time of your initial exam:

  • A list of medications you are presently taking. Please send your completed health and dental history forms to our office ahead of time. The forms we use are detailed and we like to provide a more thorough visit for you by reviewing this information before your appointment.
  • If you have medical or dental insurance, we will make a photo copy of your most recent card. Our office submits to all insurances electronically and we accept all third party payments. Kennedy Dental is not a signed provider with any insurance company. Our staff is trained and happy to assist you with any questions you have regarding insurance, financial options, or fees.

Insurance Information

At Kennedy Dental L.L.C. we make every effort to provide you with the finest care and the most convenient financial options. To accomplish this we work hand-in-hand with you to maximize your insurance reimbursement for covered procedures. If you have any problems or questions, please ask our staff. They are well informed and up-to-date.

Please bring your insurance information with you to the consultation so that we can expedite reimbursement.

IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at the consultation visit.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.) or require medication prior to dental cleanings (i.e antibiotics, for pre-med).

Patient Billing

For your convenience we accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Our office also offers CareCredit, a dental financing plan that has provided many needy patients with the dentistry that they desire. You may submit an application online to CareCredit ahead of any dental procedure or contact us for help.

If your previous dentist has taken recent x-rays (within 6-months), you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility. Dental x-rays are taken for a variety of purposes and we are pleased to let you know that we strive to take only the films that are necessary and useful. Any of our staff can go over the different types of dental x-rays that we use and we can also provide you with additional information regarding the use of x-rays.
